Date night

Last night Mike and I went downtown for the pre-season game of the Colts vs. the Vikings. My company gives away tickets almost daily to different events (baseball, basketball, football, concerts, etc.) and I won these amazing tickets yesterday. I figured I'd enter my name, as Mike and I probably won't get another opportunity for a date night for several months. Fortunately, our friends (the Fellers) were more than happy to take Izzy for the night at such last minute notice.

Last season was the Colts' first season playing at the new stadium, but this was my inaugural visit and it didn't disappoint!

I received many stares and comments on how big I was. I told Mike if I went into labor at the game we'd have to call her Lucy (for Lucas Oil Stadium)
And on our walk back to the car I just had to snap this photo. There is a delicious restaurant called Harry & Izzy's and I couldn't resist. Too cute.

Three weeks and counting...

This weekend marks the final 3 week countdown until baby Mac #2 gets here (whom still remains unnamed). I've been having ants in my pants to get out of town and visit girlfriends in Chicago; however, doctors orders that I can't travel much further than 2-3 hours by car. So I had to settle for yet another weekend at home in Indy. And this weekend did not disappoint. We actually had one of the most enjoyable weekends of the summer, yet it was quite uneventful.

On a side note, we have been spending a lot of time using our new webcam this week. I bought one for my mom's birthday and we have tried to talk to her on it nearly every night this past week. Izzy will play dress-up or show her toys and we have even had a "dinner date" with my mom and Izzy in her high chair. We've become huge fans of the webcam and are so excited to have it, we'll even bring it with us to the hospital so my mom can meet baby #2 once we're in recovery. Mike's dad and step-mom have also started webcam-ing with us. Izzy absolutely loves it and I'd highly suggest this to anyone who has family out of town. I can't believe we haven't tried this before now!

Also, Izzy has officially peed on the potty TWICE this week. A few days ago it was just a little dribble. I cried. Didn't know if it was a fluke or not. But we both sit on our potties and read daddy's "books" (read: magazines). Tonight we sat, and sat, and sat until Izzy stood up and pointed. TA-DA! Lots of potty inside and lots of squealing ensued. She was so proud of herself and so were we! Guess it's time for some big girl undies. So exciting.

We three hit up the pool all three days this weekend, as the weather was the hottest we've had summer-to-date! Jaime and Luke joined us on Saturday:

Luke and Izzy are nearly inseperable when they are together. We thought we'd try these new life jackets the pool offers and Izzy ended up barrel-rolling in hers in the big girl pool. Um, maybe next year we'll try it again.
Other than the slide, Izzy's favorite thing to do is go in the lazy river with daddy. There are waterfalls they go under and Izzy asks for more after each time.

Saturday night we had a delicious dinner at the Feller house. Brandon & Elle joined us with their little Cooper and these guys stayed up VERY late just playing with each other.

And this is what happens when Izzy gets her hands on crayons. She hides and eats them. This was hilarious, as after we cleaned her face, Jaime and I kept on trying to get the crayon out of her teeth...to no avail. So stinkin' funny.

And today, Sunday, was the hottest day of the year here in Indy. The pool was packed and we had a blast. Izzy continued to do lots of floating in the kiddie pool and many rounds in the lazy river. I loved sitting with my feet in the pool watching Izzy and Mike float in the water and bond. They are so cute together and Izzy just hangs on Mike's every word. Can't believe we get to do this all over again with another little girl!!!

This weekend brought on sunny weather (it's about time), so we were able to hit up the pool both days. Saturday, Mike spent the entire day at Crooked Stick golf course watching the Senior Open while Izzy and I had a playdate with our new nanny (!!) and then the pool. Sunday we met a friend for family photos (see next post) and then the pool again. We seem to have a budding little fish on our hands...Izzy has taken to FLOATING on her tummy in the pool. She loves it and even laughs at herself, it's really too cute to watch.

Family of 3...for only 4 more weeks

This morning we met our good friend, Molly, at the Indianapolis Museum of Art to take some family pics. The weather was beautiful, not a cloud in the sky; however, 100% sunshine does not make a happy photographer. We are very pleased with the pics, even though we're squinting in many. I just really wanted to capture our family of 3 before we become a family of 4...in 4 short weeks! Thank you, Molly, for forever capturing our family (and for your patience when Iz was melting). Funsters & Family & Friends, OH MY!

Saturday night was another Funster night for us...this time at Conner Prairie's Symphony on the Prairie, featuring music from Billy Joel's "Movin' Out" Broadway production. Mike and I had never been before and LOVED the entire experience. The weather was beautiful, the food was yummy, the friends were FUN and the music was amazing. So. Much. Fun.

Saturday afternoon Mike's dad and step mom came down to spend time with Izzy and then to go to the Saturday night race: the Kroger 200. Sunday morning we woke up and went out to a delicious breakfast at Bub's Cafe and then the girls started a sewing project for Izzy's room (window valence). Izzy jumped right in to help. So cute.

Sunday afternoon we headed to the pool, per our usual weekend routine. I just thought this picture was too cute NOT to post. These two really are best buds.

And Sunday evening Jaime dropped Luke off while she and Jeremy had evening plans (they took Iz while we were at the Symphony, so we did a switcharoo this weekend). I love that these two are so close. The literally scream while they are together, just so giddy to hang out.

Had my 35 week appt. last week and the OB told me that on your 2nd pregnancy (and all subsequent) if I go into labor after 34 weeks, they do nothing to stop the labor. What!?! That means I could have a baby ANY DAY NOW?!? Yikes. Good thing FINALLY have a nanny! Super excited about her becoming an extended member of our family come September.

And p.s. - Izzy fell out of her bed last week. And stayed sleeping. Until we went in to get her...then she started crying (most likely b/c she was woken up in the middle of the night and was on the floor!). She fell out of the foot of the bed, of course where the bed rail is not. We now put her pillows at the foot of the bed. Problem solved. Phew.

Pigtails by daddy...

Every morning I call Mike to ask when Izzy woke up, her mood, what she was dressed in for school, etc. Most mornings I have already laid out clothes for the day...and on the mornings when I don't Mike - will tell me he dressed her "Punky Brewster" style. Always fun to come home to see what she's wearing on those days (usually something a little more tomboy-ish, but cute). This morning Mike surprised me by telling me he put pigtails in her hair. I dug deeper (as they could have been placed anywhere on her head!): were they using all the hair on her head or just 1/2 of her hair? were they on top of her head or on the sides? would she still be able to nap ok? I only asked these questions b/c he'd never put TWO piggies in her hair before. I immediately emailed Jaime to ask her if she'd seen them at drop-off that morning. She hadn't. I had to have blind faith that they were presentable. Which they were. I'm so proud of my husband...now we just have to teach him how to put all the hair in the piggies and to use a comb to make the part. Baby steps :)

Unseasonably cold weekend...

This weekend held all-time low temperatures in Indy...at night it was in the 50's and during the days it was in the 60's. Was nice for a growing pregnant woman, but not so fun when all we want to do is be at the pool :( Instead, we found alternative activities to pass the weekend away. We ventured out to the Hamilton County 4H Fair (bet you didn't know we had one!?!?!). We met the Morses there and experienced a lot of firsts:

We also visited the Falciones and their new baby, Christopher. At first, Izzy was semi-interested; pointing to his eyes and nose and mouth, then extending her arms in attempt to either hug or hold the baby. After that, she was not interested in him at all...instead, she showed off all her new tricks in front of a new audience. Katie is recovering well and Ricky is in full daddy mode. They make wonderful parents already!

This afternoon we were supposed to go down to the Indianapolis Museum of Arts (IMA) for some family photos with Molly; however, the weather did not cooperate and we turned the car around for home. I thought Izzy looked too precious NOT to snap a picture of her...

We are pleased to report that Izzy has slept two days in her big girl bed with no problems. She wakes up and starts reading her books that are on her night stand until one of us comes to get her. She's 100% moved in (clothes, toys, et al) and the old nursery is slowly being converted back into a newborn-ready room. Strange to have to pull out the Boppy, move the mattress back up to the highest level, find all my pumping gear, dig out the newborn clothes and find the sleep positioner & swaddle blankets. Visiting Katie at the hospital and at home made it very real that we will be bringing home a newborn in 6 short weeks. Yikes!
